Thanks, all! I'm pretty pleased about it.
We were on our way back to Japan. We had been to Florida to visit my parents, my son came down and we took him diving in Key Largo for a week, then my wife and I went diving in Key West for a week. We were facing 38 hours of being in no-smoking airports and planes, so I bought some 'patches' and a couple of boxes of herbal 'quit smoking' capsules for the trip. After the second day, something about the patches made me feel as if Aliens were invading my body, so I just continued with the herbal capsules. I had absolutely NO intention of stopping smoking, only getting through the trip. But the capsules worked so well I had no physical withdrawal symptoms or cravings so I continued them for the next two weeks... By that time the chemical addiction was broken and all I had to do was deal with the emotional side of not smoking. I was surprised to discover that 'for me,' it was MUCH more difficult than the nicotine addiction and it took me YEARS to really deal with it. That little computer counter app gave me the daily feedback to inspire me to continue. Each day I could see it growing and really appreciate the fact that I was making progress. It was worth all the effort.
