At first I was excited that maybe there was a firmware update for the T1 to add some of the T2 features, which would be a BIG change for Sony from previous history. However, the version upgrade refers to the Sony Reader software.

Here is a list of new features from the Sony Support website. The list looks the same for Mac & PC versions.

Quote:
Improvements over previous Reader for Mac software (version 1.1.05.13310):
  • USB connection support for Sony® Reader™ (PRS-T2)
  • Automatic Reader device authorization when connected to a computer already authorized with an Adobe® ID
  • Simplified and intuitive contents sync operation between Reader for Mac software and the Reader device
  • Intuitive drag-and-drop to copy selected contents to Reader connected to a USB port
  • Info screen for convenient access to all support pages
  • Improved content entitlement management for contents purchased from Reader™ Store
  • Supports downloads of DRM-free (paid titles without Digital Rights Management) content from the Reader Store
  • Improved UI (User Interface) design and performance
  • Russian language support
Looks like maybe Sony has tried to improve the syncing features and perhaps brought back more control like the old Reader software had. It's probably worth updating since it can't get much worse than it already is, especially if the UI design and performance is truly improved.
