Corrupt screen, I presume you mean something like there are a lot of lines on it, parts of it are frozen etc - like the following images shown here:
google search for broken Kindle screen.
So the screen is cracked beneath the surface which means your Kindle is, as Amazon have stated, pretty much dead. There's not really a solution other than getting a new one. Usually they will offer you a replacement at a reduced cost, did they not do that?
