For ereading you can have much of the same effect by using replaceable batteries, that
you charge outside of the ereader. Then the time that matters is only the time it takes
to swap out the used batteries with a charged set. With my Jetbook Lite it's only a
couple of minutes.

With most modern chargers once the batteries are charged the charger goes into trickle
charge mode, so there is no need to be concerned about when the actual charging is
completed. You can just remove them from the charger whenever you get around to it.
The amount of time that requires your involvement is minimal, as is the interruption in
your ereading.
