I found this out the hard way as well and filed a complaint about the fact that device compatibility should be right below the damn "Buy Now" button. Instead they have it buried almost at the bottom of the page.
If you haven't already d13design, ask for a refund. I did. It takes a few days for them to do it but they did do it for me, they will however only credit your Kobo Account. They won't actually refund your money the way you paid for it. At least in my case that was what they did. I'm fine with that as there were other books I wanted as well and just used my credit on them. I also had this happen when I thought I was buying an epub and didn't realize until after I had paid for the book and went to download my copy (I always sideload my epubs) that it was a bloody PDF. Asked for a refund and got it. Kobo did come out with an epub version of the book a week later but I had already bought the epub version from Books On Board.
