That is the right program and should work, but calibre's viewer is essentially a ePub viewer, any mobi file will get a quick and dirty (read not full) conversion to ePub prior to viewing. This works great most of the time. If you are having trouble viewing mobi books you might want to try using the Kindle 4 PC app.
