Yesterday, I did a factory reset (pushed "factory reset" box on the Device Information page) on my new KT, going from the 2.0.0 firmware with slow page turns back to firmware 1.9.13 (r33944, date 10/19/11).
Then, hoping to move up to the .19 firmware, I downloaded the 1.9.17.zip file (found here:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=185660 [1.9.17.b] ) .
I unzipped it and copied and pasted the entire contents into the KT device folder (shown in Finder on my Mac).
Kobo Desktop was turned off as advised. But the KT Device Information still says that the firmware installed is .13, so I dunno what I did wrong. Are the files in the 1.9.17.zip file really for that level of the firmware, or did I just not manage to unpack them properly? I saw them in a list, copied them and pasted them into the Finder KT folder. Then ejected the device, but it didn't install them.
That aside, the page turns are about twice as fast as in the 2.0.0 software. And the fonts and cover appear to be in much clearer resolution? Not sure about that, as my eyes are old! Could this have to do with updates to the firmware for the Japanese rendering, I wonder.
But I am happy with the quicker page turns.
