FN LN, author_sort, Initials dot, ", Jr", author template?

I've been using FN LN with the author_sort tweak set to comma, and having problems with author_sort and an author template.

What's the best way to avoid author_sort problems when last_names have suffixes such as "Jr" or "Sr"? I've been using the inadequate convention of copying the suffix to a custom column then completely removing the suffix from the Author(s) field so there won't be problems in author_sort, but then that messes up the validity of certain author templates for certain sites.

The site ISFDB insists on the convention ", Jr" or ", Jr." — search fails without that comma.

Also noticed that ISFDB wants initials followed by dot rather than no dot, but the author template (copied from Search the Internet plugin and pasted into Prefs/Behavior) or the site cgi script apparently strips out the dots so the search fails, whether the template is used from Search the Internet or Book Details. I spent hours trying to get various template functions to solve that problem with no success.

Any recommendations for solutions?
