Why would you want page numbers in an ePub? HOW would you get page numbers for an ePub? What's a "page?"--the amount that shows up on screen? 6" screen? 5"? IPhone?
ADE has a system for calculating "page numbers" in ePub based on kb; it's 3-5 pages on my PRS-505 screen. (On the small default font.) (Depending on how much dialogue vs long descriptive paragraphs.)
Kindles list "locations," but that's not the same as pages. I'm not sure if they're also calculated by filesize rather than something based on character count/text arrangement on the screen.
"Pages" is not entirely compatible with html-based media.
