You have the package (PuTTY) for the pc end of the communications installed already.
That is the "client" software.
The USBnet package, installed using the launcher, is for the Kindle end of the communications.
That is the "server" software.
The USBnet package, during its installation, will assign an IP address to the "server" end of the communications.
The PuTTY package, can not do that for the client end since it is a very general purpose package.
You will have to assign the IP address for the "client" end of the USB cable by following the directions included in the USBnet package.
Yes - that USB cable has two, different, IP addresses assigned - one for each (device) end of the cable.
There seems to have been frequent posts about confusion over that point recently.
