As much as I used to enjoy reading Doc Savage as a kid, I find that I have to put myself in a proper frame of mind to read them now. Let's face it, the characters and dialog were so well-established over 181 books that they become predictable to a fault.

The later books (from the original series) become much more readable, then, as they begin to break that mold.

Every now and then I am reminded that I haven't read any of Will Murray's new books, and I should give them a try.
