For what it's worth my husband loves the Kobo, so I don't feel like our money went into a black hole. He doesn't really pay much attention to reading life except for the "cute" factor, but overall he's happy with it. As long as he can stick his CBC news recipe and other things on it, he doesn't mind.
Just because I personally didn't like it doesn't mean other people won't.
