I can understand that idea for update purposes, it means you don't have to setup the program again.

However not from the point of view for someone wanting to uninstall calibre because they don't want to use it anymore.

Leaving a load of "orphaned" files & folders behind is bad news !

A choice of updating calibre or permanently uninstalling calibre would be a better idea.
