Please keep your phone, you'll need it, trust me.
If you want a better one, I recommend you the Galaxy SII or Galaxy SIII. With contract, you can get one for 150 and 200, respectively, plus taxes. That's what I did for my wife.
We now chat using Google Talk and cam during lunch hours.
... And that's via 4G, no wifi.
