Actually, once I used a Windows machine _once_ to find my key, I could use the tools on my Linux box to my heart's content. I still use a Windows or Mac box to download purchased files, but that's almost the only thing I use it for. I haven't tried downloading to my Sony and then transferring to my Linux box...might work.

I suppose one could have a fine philosophical discussion about the purity (in the RMS sense) of using proprietary software to make purchases prior to unlocking the purchase for use with free applications. But I'm just a simple-minded programmer, not a philosopher, so I don't bother.
