No, I knew that one. Seward's Folly was the nickname given to the Alaska Purchase by its opponents. Couldn't tell you the first name, though.
I'm a history buff, and at one point I worked out an alternate history where the USA didn't buy Alaska. I only took it as far as WW2. I found an interesting twist; while the Republic of Alaska Navy didn't have any aircraft carriers, it did have a handful of battleships. The US had basically given them away because of the arms treaties. This resulted in those hulls not being developed into the aircraft carriers that won the war in the Pacific.
And yes, I know I fudged some details above. It's late and I'm tired.
