Thanks for the replies.

jbcohen, many of the free books are ones I got through temporary Amazon promotions and are drm'd in AZW format.

The screen "issue" on this one looks a little different that on the others. This one looks cracked, while the others didn't, which is why I'm afraid they will say "no" to a free replacement.
