I only say this because:
a) Clearly your KT has working wifi otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the presence of *any* other networks.
b) I once had a similar issue on a laptop that used an intel wireless chipset that categorically refused to connect to any "available" network including my own. Yet when I manually entered all that data (as per connecting to a hidden SSID) - boomshanka.
(This problem was permanently rectified when I binned the intel and changed to a card with an atheros chipset - a choice you don't have with the KT).
Thanks for your suggestions but i went ahead and did a factory reset and then manually installed the last 1.9.1.7 upgrade. It is so much faster and more stable then 2 I have to say I'd forgotten just what a difference. Unfortunately still no internet so i guess i might have to take it back for a replacement. Firmware 2 is really pathetic. The shelves are good but more care should have been made before unleashing what, for most of us who didn't know any better, was an involuntary upgrade. I have spent hours trying to sort it out and simply don't have time to waste on dodgy equipment.
