I had that happen accidentally (coming up of the menu) and didn't know how that came to pass.
So it's not a bug, it's a feature - for real.
If they would now implement "touch anywhere to go forward, swipe to go back, swipe upwards to open book menu", that would be cool. Since swiping down to open one menu works, that should be possible, too. (Dreaming, again.
