Just Blank Space

This new update makes me afraid to use my Touch.

For some time, whenever I turned on my Touch, I got the last update again, followed by the "welcome" screen as if my Touch was new (none of my books disappeared, fortunately). Whenever that happened, something else went goofy. First, all books on the SD card appeared as generic book icons rather than cover pictures. Next, stuff I'd converted from other formats through Calibre appeared as generic icons, then epub books from other sites appeared as icons.

When I sideloaded a Kobo book I'd mistakenly deleted appeared as just an icon, I stopped turning my Touch off & just put it into sleep mode.

Last night I synced a few new Kobo books through the desktop app, & got 2.0 update. Now all the books that had appeared as icons are just blank space. The home page with the books I'm reading (the carousel, I think) had all been icons. That was really frustrating as I had to open & close two or more before I found what I wanted to read.

Now I have a blank home page & don't even know where on the screen to touch.

I don't know what to do. I had unsuccessfully tried to cure the problems with soft resets. I've been reluctant to do a factory reset because the mere thought of reloading 1300+ ebooks makes my eyes cross.

I emailed kobo help desk this morning & I'm waiting for an answer. In the meantime, I've gone back to reading 'hard copies'.
