I understand what you meant but old laptops used Nicad or NiMH batteries. Newer ones tend to be Li-ion which don't have the same recharge memory problems of Nicad and NiMH. That is not to say that current batteries don't have issues. I don't know what they might use but I would expect it to be at least a Li-ion.
