I think it's all about different consumer bases, and what people need. Even if something is out-of-date, however, that doesn't mean that it's useless - just that there's something else out there to appeal to somebody else! After all, I still prefer DVDs because they have prettier cases, even though they're out-of-date compared to Blu-Rays!

I think that eink is something that's always going to be improving and adapting to the market, not something that will necessarily be phased out in favour of tablets. I really do believe that coloured eink is only just over the horizon, but even if it's not, all of the books that I read on my Kindle are simply black text on a white background, even in the paper format, with the exception of the occasional book that features a few (greyscale) maps.

So I guess I don't think that eink is going out of date - it just isn't as versatile as a lot of the current consumer market would like it to be, and that's a big technological drawback, but it's also something that "they" can always work towards improving. c:
