Years ago I liked Georgette Heyer, Barbera Cartland, Mary Burchell plus others pretty tame by todays standards in tackiness, but all the hormone storm inducing ingredients were still there. Georgette Heyer is still a great read for me occassionally even today.

I don't read a lot of chick lit today, but when I do I prefer kickass chiick lit such as Janet Evanovich or Lois Grieman. (sometimes I think Harlen Coben writes chic-lit)
