Finished Triggers by Robert J. Sawyer this week. I liked it, but it was really more like a thriller than a hard science fiction novel. I have to admit that I prefer his hard scifi or his scifi/mystery crossovers.

Spoiler:
The president of the US gets shot and is taken to hospital. During his surgery, an EMP (caused by a terrorist attack on the White House) causes a blackout. During this blackout, the memories of a bunch of people present at the hospital get linked. Much of questioning about how this happened and what will be the consequences follows.

Also finished Lightspeed Magazine #25, June 2012. A good issue, the story I liked most was a reprint by George R. R. Martin: The Way of Cross and Dragon. It's now available for free at the Lightspeed website (also as a podcast).
