@Jeannie - you came here asking for help and a number have tried to suggest a best approach. If you only ever change author names using the single edit book metadata dialog and nowhere else ever (not using the library view to edit in cell, not using the tag browser to rename, not using the bulk metadata editor dialog, not using...) then you might get away with your approach. We've told you the steps for a preferred alternative. If you insist you want to do it your way, then as I said above go for it. But don't be surprised if somewhere down the line it goes wrong. I'm not posting again about this, I just didn't want others coming to this thread thinking that they should also skip a step or two without at the very least understanding the consequences.
