Didn't mean that cats won't eat anything but meat-- only that they have a hard time being healthy without it, whereas dogs (at least I've been told) can exist on a non-meat diet with no ill effects, because they can manufacture proteins from amino acids (the same way humans do). It's been a while since I looked into the details, though.

My cats like non-meat products as well. One cat used to regularly swipe baked goods if they were left even slightly unattended. He had a particular fondness for muffins. The kitty with the nasty sense of humor that I mentioned in another thread also likes some baked goods, particularly eclairs (I don't give her the chocolate part, of course). A friend had a cat who was extremely fond of popcorn. They used to share a bag while watching TV together.
