 I haven't logged into my account because I'm using same email address for my Rakuten membership and US KOBO account.
I was told if I log in as Rakuten member, they simply think I'm a new member and my US account wouldn't be recognized.
Since I don't want to lose my purchases, I need them to migrate my IDs.

 Hmm, so if I'm staying abroad, I can't buy Japanese ebooks even if I have Rakuten membership and valid address. 

That would have been very frustrating when I was living in Singapore.
