Battery life will really get extend by the fact that as transistor/semi-conducting switches on microchips get smaller the amount of energy they use decreases at the same rate. There is a two year doubling rate for the number transistor/semi-conducting switches you can get on a microchip, so the amount of energy used is halved every two year. For example a Commodore 64 would run for like 30 second on an Apple Mac Book battery.
