I've been downloading 5-6 newspapers every morning, for about a year, using the regular Calibre interface, but I don't schedule them. Or, most precisely, I scheduled them for automatic download at the maximum interval (999 days). Before breakfast, I right-click on Fetch News, and select Download All Scheduled News Sources. Maybe this isn't the most efficient way to use the Calibre news feature, but works consistently for me.
Steve,
Cron is software that runs a script at specified intervals of time and date. Could be every hour, or every 4 hours, or every morning at 3am, or at 5:43 on April 3 every year, and so on. I am doing the downloads using the commands in a script, which works perfectly. What's not working is being able to access the calibre library on my computer remotely with a browser and see the newspapers show up on the interface that calibre-server presents.
