Don't blame Sony. It was B&N's choice to use a propietary drm same as apple did. If they had been so eager to make their books compatible with all ADE devices all they had to do was use the regular adobe drm that everybody else but B&N and Apple uses.
I actually think when they say they want their books compatible with all ADE devices they only mean phones and tablets not their competitors ebook readers like kobo and sony.
