Thanks for the info. I'm inclined to forget about it, then. I don't want to deal with DRM on audio books. I thought the files would be akin to music files. What I wanted to do was burn the audio book files to CDs, but it's sounding like that would either not be allowed or would turn into some huge hassle.

I've already had issues with library audio books--(when I download the odm file to a flash drive, the book won't subsequently download on the computer with the Overdrive console)--but for a free "read," I'm willing to put up with some difficulty. I'm not willing to deal with all the confusion with something I pay for and ostensibly own.

I think I will buy CD versions of the very few audio books I'd like to own. Then I will know they're really mine.

I am getting more ornery and curmudgeonly by the hour.
