This open system (that Kobo generously allows) is problematic when releasing firmware updates. They simply can't account for all the variations.

Considering that I've tried applying the 2.0.0 update to a factory reset Touch (running 1.9.11), it can't be any of the above, unless the factory reset is not completely erasing the internal disks before doing the reset.
