While I enjoyed the Hornblower books, I enjoyed the Patrick O'Brien Aubrey/Maturin books far more. The depth of the characters, and the scientific and historical details (beyond the simple battle stuff) is far more compelling, IMHO. Highly recommended, though I'm not sure they're available from the library yet. (Haven't looked, I already have them all in both audio and pBook format.)
