Should be very easy to download in the background.
Basically there's 2 solutions:
1) you manually enter the URIs of your feeds/newspapers and the script wget them
2) you create a small script that could parse your XML listing the subscriptions on Feedbooks and get them

Thomas is working on such a thing, you should probably ask him.

Too bad that you deleted the content in the newspaper, I could've probably test it and see if there's a real problem on it.
