ummm.. no.

"high ratings" at amazon (and elsewhere) has (sadly) become something to be bought - $5/5-star review at some sites.

High "critical reviews" from some publications, though, are still worth a mention (although not always indicative of a good read; I've found an "Oprah" recommendation to almost always indicate a bad book, for example).

Now, had your mention included a personal review (and seeing as how this isn't your first post, it wouldn't be as likely that you are here only to plug the book) or mentioned other books of his you'd read or perhaps that this was a backlist reprint or he was published elsewhere, etc.

But "free and five-star reviews" now seems to be the norm for self-pubbed works at Amazon, where they drown out the ones worth reading (and this might be one, although it didn't appear likely from the only honest appearing review of the bunch).
