This is actually a real world issue for me and has happened a numerous amount of times on my Android devices. The apps I've installed on my device run out of internal memory while my SD Card is mostly empty. It seems now all the apps and local files will share the same volume.

Also the Nexus' filesystem is ext3 and not a hybrid of ext3/Fat32 which will make the device that much faster when accessing data.

So, somehow, storing all your apps, appdata and media in 16GB onboard is somehow superior to squeezing it into 16GB onboard and essentially limitless external?

Must be that new math thing they teach at schools now.
