In the 20-odd years that I took pictures professionally, I spent most of that time with my head under a black cloth making sense of an image that was upside down and back to front; if I worried about how I looked, I'd never have taken a single picture.

I use my iPad a fair bit for taking work-related photos and every time I marvel at how gorgeous that screen is - like holding up a perfectly exposed 10x8 transparency up to the light - and how easy it is to compose a shot on that big screen.

Still don't give much of a toss about how I look when I'm shooting, 'cos at the end of the day all there is are the pictures - however they were captured
