Greetings from Bristol - England
Hi, I'm new to all forums, so I hope this works. I thought that I would never buy an ebook reader, but I am going to. I have bid on ebay for a SONY PRS 300.
If I don't get that one I will find another. I have purchased a USB stick with many ebooks on it.
So I thought I would download 'calibre' and start reading them on my PC.
In the intro to calibre it says that its very easy to use.
I even read a few pages of the guide that is already loaded as an ebook when it starts up that's how I got to this forum - it's mentioned in the last paragraph on the last page !!
Oh! such innocence.....
I made a Library on my data HDD as instructed and via the WIZARD made that the default directory. That worked and the supplied guide was transferred there and I can read it on my PC. So far, so wonderful.
However, when I want to import an ebook (in epub format) from the USB stick, I click to import a book from a single directory (first option) and click on the title file (which is the only file shown in that directory unless I change the 'file types' to *.* whereupon two other files appear) and the book file (epub)is promptly imported.
I should also mention this file name has the author and the tile and in () a number - say 8436.
The title comes up beneath the 'guide' and all seems well UNTIL I want to read it. Then I get a message which says that the ebook is corrupted and I should download it again if I can. I do that - but nothing changes.
There is obviously something that I am missing or doing wrong.
Please help me.
