Not an Ideal Solution, But still a solution option

Okay, to get around what is definitely a dependency situation I have fallen back to 0.8.58. Now I am able to run Calibre and add new books.

Seems the issue is with dependencies - there is at lease one lib that 0.8.59 requires and that is podofo - the only version that is available in Ubuntu Universe is the one for Ubuntu 11.10. Not available for 10.04 users. There are probably other dependencies that are not available that are creating the GLIBC_Critical error that is occurring.

So, my solution (at least until I decide to move to a newer version of Ubuntu, or another distro), was to fall back to Calibre 0.8.58 which can be found on the sourceforge site, as stated in the Calibre download directory.
