This is leading me to believe that .apnx capacity is somehow disabled on my Kindle. I bought a kindle 4 for a friend and put some books from my collection on it, though the books are the same (the same files) the page numbers are displayed on their kindle 4 but not on my touch.
Also the kindle keyboard I had before showed page numbers with the same books.
I think it's a hardware/firmware issue rather than a file issue.

I don't have a Touch but on my KK the page numbers aren't always displayed. Pressing the "menu" button reveals that you are on "page x of 296," for instance. When you press the "back" button, the page number is hidden again. On the help guide for the Touch it says "If your Kindle book includes page numbers, you'll see page numbers displayed next to locations when you tap the center of the screen while reading." Your Kindle doesn't display page numbers when you tap the center of the screen?
Edit: Thanks, JS...I'm usually the slowest at responding.
