There are some self-pub authors who are making a living off their work.
I would put that number at around 200-300 (just a guess on my part) based on what I have discovered and from Amazon letter to shareholders about "more than 1000 authors selling more than 1000 ebooks each month from Kindle Direct Publishing"
And some are making some serious money from it, especially with 70% royalties.
