True though you have to consider the times a book is written in as well I think. It was written in 1938 or 1939 (published in 1939) so the world was a bit different back then. There were still segregated restaurants, theater's, bathrooms and even water fountains back then. And of course the threat of Nazi aggression was in the air too so I imagine the title of a book was of secondary concern back then.
