The first one I read was 'A Murder is Announced' (Marple) and that would be a good one to start with, for Poirot I would choose 'Evil Under the Sun' or 'Mrs McGinty's Dead'.

The books can really be read in any order, because they are all self contained novels and apart from 'Caribbean Mystery' and 'Nemesis' don't really depend on any of the others. 'Nemesis' doesn't depend on 'Caribbean Mystery' for the plot, but does follow on from it. Without trying to give to much away, in 'Nemesis', Miss Marple is given some money and a task from one of the characters in 'Caribbean Mystery'.

I would also suggest 'And Then There Was None' ( which has had its original title changed twice because they were deemed to be politically incorrect). The Original title had been changed to 'Ten Little Indians', but even that has been deemed unsuitable.
