Sounds like you need to chat with amazon's tech support about the kindle that wont turn off, sounds like you have a hardware failure. Amazon's tech support is the best. I have spoken to them once about my Kindle Fire and they fixed that without a problem. I do have a minor firmwear problem, however that's more of a nusance then a major problem, so no big deal there.

There policy is that they will only give you a full refund if its within the first year, however if its not depending on how old it is they may give you up to 75% off a new kindle (let's keep this reasonable no kindle one's they are simply too old for that guaranty, however they are elligible for a upgrade discount).
