the author meeting that sticks in my head is the one i had with terry brooks many years ago at a now-defunct bookstore called change of hobbit. i told him i enjoyed his work and he told me that he was THE best in the genre. i suggested that dave eddings was good, too, and mr. brooks informed me that he was a far better writer than mr. eddings *LOLOL*
