I live in rural Scotland. My local public library has hardly registered the arrival of the 20th century, let alone the 21st.

) As I don't much care for Mills&Boon romances or Agatha Christie whodunnits, I've never found much there (in fact anything there) to interest me in the slightest. Thank heavens for Amazon, etc, I say, or I'd never read a decent book. Not to mention the fact that, when I read a book, I rather like to know where it's been last.
That all said, I find the subject of ebooks and libraries a curious one. Given ebooks are digital files - why on earth would we need public libraries for them? (Be clear - I'm not denigrating the value of public libraries over the last century, despite my local library's inadequacies.) But - given the nature of the media - why should we ever need more than a website? Or am I missing something?
