My T1 fell off the coffee table, a distance of maybe two feet, onto a wood floor and the screen fractured. I'm guessing it hit on the top left corner because that's where the fracture is. I had only owned it about two months.

I took it to the Sony store for repair or exchange and they said that it wasn't a manufacturer's defect so it wasn't covered by the warranty. Furthermore, if I wanted it repaired I should call the 800 number, that the store didn't deal with such issues. And they weren't nice about it either. I spoke to the manager, explaining that I felt that if the screen cracked so easily that it was a manufacturing defect and should be covered. She didn't buy it. I asked her what she would have me do. She said they're only $99, just buy another one.

I have owned a PRS-300 for about three years and have found it to be an extremely reliable sturdy device. I was expecting the same from the T1 and was bitterly disappointed. I wanted to "upgrade" to the T1 for what now seem minor annoyances. I am still so incensed by the contempt of the Sony store manager and the lack of build quality of the T1 that I seriously may never buy another Sony product. I have been a loyal owner/purchaser of many types of Sony products for nearly my entire life, but no more.

I now intend to see if new firmware can fix the frustrating slow book loading on my PRS-300. I don't know what reader I will buy when the PRS-300 eventually dies, but it won't be a Sony.
