Both Taipan and King Rat are rather fast reads. As I said, not in the same class as Shogun. Shogun had half a dozen sub-plots going on though out the book. Taipan and King Rat have just one. Noble House does get back to the multi-plot story, but they all manage to come together at the end.

I think I've just talked myself into re-reading the series... LOL!
