Hi, new Sony Reader user here

Every time I search for solutions re: my Sony Readers I end up viewing threads from this site, so I finally decided I should join.

I have been using a Sony PRS-300 for I think almost three years. I use Calibre (on my Sony VAIO laptop running Windows 7 64-bit) to manage my library and convert file types. I pretty much buy all of my ebooks from Amazon now and use the Calibre plugins to convert them to epub, because Amazon seems to have the cheapest prices. I used to buy my books from Fictionwise, but once B&N killed the cheaper club prices it wasn't worth it anymore.

I got a Sony PRS-T1 for Christmas and was really excited about it. Unfortunately, after only about two months it fell off the coffee table and the screen is now broken. I tried to take it back to the Sony store for a repair or exchange and the manager flat out told me it wasn't their problem and I should just buy a new one. I was so incensed that I vowed never to buy another Sony product. (Yes, I have a bad habit of cutting off my nose to spite my face--sigh.) I have gone back to using my PRS-300 and am now searching for a way to improve it's performance because my only real complaint is that it loads books SOOO slowly. FYI, I accidentally dropped the PRS-300 on a tile floor not long ago and it did not cause any damage whatsoever. Don't know why the build quality on the T1 is so crappy. A $130 piece of electronics should NOT be disposable!

I also have a new Nokia N9 smartphone and the fbreader software seems quite nice, so I may start reading books on my phone a lot more.
