Most of the time I choose 7 days, occasionally 14 if I think I'll take too long. Rarely do I feel the need for a whole 21 days. In any case I always return the minute I am done with a book, so if it is on a holds queue, the next person gets it right away.

Our library also allows for up to 20 e-loans at a time (they have several formats of books, pdf, and audio as well as epub). But I have yet to see more than a handful of the books I am interested in actually available all at once.

For a popular title, I often wait so long I am surprised when I get the notification, forgetting that I had placed the hold to begin with haha.
